LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA — It seems Trump’s xenophobia has trickled over into parts of our community as well. After brick-beating an elderly man, this woman went into hiding.
According to NBC Southern California, a local woman was arrested in connection to the brutal assault of a 92-year-old man, on July 4. During the incident, the elderly man was struck with a piece of concrete and berated.
The source notes 30-year-old Laquisha Jones of Los Angeles as the suspect. She was arrested Tuesday night, on July 10, near 60th Street and Crenshaw Avenue, as mentions a statement from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Reportedly, 92-year-old Rodolfo Rodriguez was attacked around 7:30 p.m. on July 4 in an area of East 118th and Robin streets.
For now, the source says a motive for the attack was not clear.
However, Rodriguez was going for a walk in his neighborhood when he encountered Jones. After being knocked to the ground, the source states a group of men started kicking him — this coming from a nearby witness, Misbel Borjas.

The witness also says Jones told Rodriguez to “go back, go back” and cursed at him.
Tuesday, during an interview with NBC News, the witness said she believes the woman was telling Rodriguez to “go back” to Mexico.
CNN reports Rodriguez saying:
“I didn’t even bump into her kid. I just passed her, and she pushed me and she hit me until she was done.”
Rodriguez also told the source that Jones told the other alleged men that he was trying to take her daughter away, and that’s when they came over and began their assault.
However, in a statement Wednesday afternoon, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s investigators noted that the crime isn’t a “hate-related incident.”
Misbel Borjas states that, when Jones noticed she was being recorded, she threw the same brick towards her and attempted to hit her car.
ARRESTED WITHOUT INCIDENT
According to NBC Southern California, Jones was taken into custody without incident and booked for assault with a deadly weapon. She’s being held on $200,000 bail.
Likewise, jail records didn’t specify an initial court appearance. Too, it wasn’t clear whether Jones has an attorney.
However, investigators are still attempting to determine whether there were more individuals involved in the attack. The source states Rodriguez was released from the hospital and is recovering from his injuries at home with his family.

Erik Mendoza, the victim’s grandson, mentioned as follows.
“Who would do this to anybody? A 92-year-old senior citizen. What can he do to anybody? There’s no harm that he meant.”
All in all, what are your thoughts about this story? Regardless of the motive, how could someone physically attack someone so elderly? What do you think caused the situation?
Do you think people in the Black community are allowing Trump-ism and fear trickle into their minds — bringing out certain xenophobic traits you see in more Caucasian citizens?
