On January 30, Will posted to his Instagram — as he’s been doing lately. However, this message hit home with a LOT of viewers. His response was so great, Smith had to hit IG again with a “thank you” for the massive outreach regarding the topic.
We ALL, too often, get caught up pointing fingers at others or situations and circumstances at some time or another. And, throughout our lives, we’ve probably heard it over and over again — “It’s not my fault!”
Well, Will Smith just took this topic to an entirely different height. And, after hearing what he has to say, there’s no way anyone can turn back.

FAULT v. RESPONSIBILITY
In the posts, Will began by stating the following.
“I was just having a debate with a friend of mine, and we got stuck on the difference between ‘fault’ and ‘responsibility.’ She kept talking about that something was ‘somebody’s fault!’ I was like, ‘It really doesn’t matter whose fault it is that something is broken, if it’s your responsibility to fix it.”
“For example,” Smith continued, “it’s not somebody fault if their father was an abusive alcoholic…but it’s for d**n sure their responsibility to figure out how they’re gonna deal with those traumas and try to make a life out of it.”

Equally as powerful, the next scenario hit home with many viewers as well. Will mentioned:
“It’s not your fault if your partner cheated and ruined your marriage, but it is for D**N SURE your responsibility to figure out how to take that pain…and how to overcome that and build a happy life for yourself.”
“Fault and responsibility do not go together, and it sucks!” Smith exclaims, going on to elaborate more on the topic.

Will actually added more to the segment later in the day. It can be seen by visiting his Instagram page. Due to the feedback, he saved the mini-series as a permanent story.
Note: In case you missed his other successful mini-series regarding “failure,” it’s also located below.
