Mother Receives Serious Backlash After Posting Video Of Her Twin Sons Showing Affection Towards One Another

Designer and stylist Ashlee Muhammad often shares photos of her twin boys, Jet Pharaoh and Nova Maximus. In fact, the identical twins have their own Instagram page filled with adorable photos of them enjoying life as they are often dressed alike. When the New York mother decided to post a video of her twins showing affection towards one another, she didn’t think it was a big deal. Muhammed was dropping her twin boys off to daycare and as she reminded them to have a good day, the twin brothers kissed each other on the lips. Captioning the video by saying, “All you need is love,” the video is an beautiful example of sibling love. After the boys embraced and kissed, they then ran off together before returning to their mommy to kiss her.

Instead of receiving positive comments, Muhammad received a lot of backlash as some Instagram followers felt that the video was inappropriate. Some social media users commented by saying the following:

No offense given, but my father would never [do this],  one user wrote. This is too feminine for boys who are supposed to be raised to protect themselves, their mother, and their sisters.

I mean come on […]it’s common sense. You don’t have two boys kissing each other on the [lips], another user wrote. They could hug each other but kiss each other on the lips[…] that’s gay.

Muhammad was appalled at the comments she received. In her mind, she posted an innocent video of her sons showing love to one another. She had no idea that her parenting skills would be attacked. Muhammad posted a picture of herself along with her husband and she stressed to her social media followers to “stop sexualizing children”. Muhammad stated the following:

I would have NEVER in a million years thought that something posted out of pure love and admiration for my children would have turned into all of this, she wrote. My parenting has NEVER been attacked so harshly in MY LIFE

What Ashlee Muhammad shared on her page is more of what the world needs to see. Hopefully, our culture will reach a point where we’ll see two boys showing affection and we won’t perceive them to be gay. Instead, we’ll think of how good of friends that they are or be reminded that the bond between siblings is a beautiful bond that should be celebrated not criticized. In American culture, there is a stigma towards men who outwardly show affection and they are often presumed to be gay. The idea of anyone questioning or degrading male children showing affection is ridiculous.

If you had a problem with the video, sit down and have several seats.
