In Detroit, Michigan on I-94 freeway, Michigan State police officers arrived to one of the worse car accidents they’ve ever seen. Four people, all under the age of 21, lost their lives in a car crash that occurred on Monday morning around 1:00 a.m.
Here’s What We Know:
A witness, John, shared with Fox 2 News that he observed a driver speed past him in a 2006 Buick SUV. The witness believed that the driver was driving about 80 or 90 miles per hour. Soon after the driver sped past him, the witness arrived to a car crash and he slowed down as he noticed two men were in the middle of the freeway.
Michigan State Police say that 20 year-old Doreal Rodgers was driving the SUV in the left lane when she crossed three lanes of traffic and hit the bridge in an area that locals call “Dead Man’s Curve.” After hitting the bridge, all 4 adult passengers, Doreal Rodgers, 20 year-old Alesia Maddox, 18 year-old Armonie Maddox, and 18 year-old Ervin Johnson were killed instantly. The two males were ejected from the vehicle as the other passengers were trapped inside. The child, 1 year-old Josiah, was buckled into his car seat and sustained minor injuries. Unfortunately, he was the only person that survived. Thankfully, his car seat saved him as he was the only person buckled in. The adult passengers reportedly were not wearing seat belts.
The miracle baby that survived the car crash was the son of Alesia Maddox. He recently celebrated his first birthday. Alesia took to Facebook to share that her son was her world. While Alesia Maddox was the mother of Josiah, his alleged Godmother was Doreal Rodgers. Doreal and Alesia were good friends who both loved each other as well as Josiah. Alesia thanked Rodgers for being a great friend and Godmother to her son. In addition, Alesia Maddox and Armonie Maddox were siblings and family members often said that Josiah looked like his uncle Armonie. It’s unclear how Ervin Johnson was related to the victims.
The story is developing but police officers stated that there was no evidence of alcohol or narcotics use at this time. The investigation is continuing. The families are in our prayers.
