A Florida woman and her 11-year-old daughter were gunned down in their own home due to a bizarre series of events. Apparently, all was well between Kaladaa Crowell and her girlfriend, Robin Denson until Denson’s son, Marlin Larice Joseph, came home from prison. Although it is unclear when Joseph was released from prison, it reportedly didn’t take long for him to wreak havoc. According to CBS News, he is accused of murdering Kaladaa Crowell and her 11-year-old daughter, Kyra Inglett. It has been reported that the shooting stemmed from a disturbing argument and the situation ended in gunfire.
On Thursday, December 28, Joseph reportedly became embroiled in a heated argument with Crowell over her daughter’s attitude. Joseph claimed the little girl had “a bad attitude” and “was not getting along with the other children who lived in the home,” according to the arrest report. So he decided to take matters into his own hands. After shooting Crowell, he chased the child outside and fired at her as well shooting her in the head and in the right arm. Joseph’s three brothers attempted to hold him down so he couldn’t run away but to no avail. Crowell died at the scene but her daughter was still alive when first responders arrived. However, she later died after being transported to a local hospital.
On The Run:
Joseph fled the scene of the crime in Crowell’s car and was reportedly on the run for four days before he was arrested on Tuesday, January 2. Police were able to track his whereabouts based on his card transactions but when they arrived at the first location, they actually cornered his cousin Javarie Williams. When Williams was cornered the card fell out of his pocket and he allegedly attempted to kick the card under the car. He allegedly lied about using the card and claimed he didn’t even know his own cousin. “How could I use a card I don’t know the PIN for?” Williams reportedly said. He ultimately landed himself behind bars because investigators determined that he’d used the card to withdraw money for Joseph who had been hiding at his apartment for days.
Prior to Joseph’s capture, his mother spoke with the Palm Beach Post and tearfully pleaded with her son to turn himself in. She also shared her reaction to the disturbing murders of Crowell and her daughter. “Kaladaa was the sweetest person,” Denson told the Palm Beach Post. “She’d give the shirt off her back to help anybody … She was my girlfriend and that was our home. I love my son, but I loved Kyra and Kaladaa, too.”
Marlin Larice Joseph has been arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder. He has been denied bond while his cousin’s bond has been set at $50,000.
