Isiah Dequan Hayes, 19, and Daireus Jumare Ice, 22, are accused of raping a 9-month-old girl and filming the attack.
Authorities have identified Hayes, who was 17 at the time, as the person committing the horrific crime. They say Ice filmed the attack on his cellphone.
Both men were indicted by a grand jury in Memphis, Tennessee on Tuesday. In October 2016, the victim’s mother reported the men to authorities when she found sickening footage.
Ice can allegedly be seen touching himself and the innocent infant, who was naked from the waist down.
The Incident Happened Two Years Ago
It was only this past February, the mother finally was able to identify the suspects via social media. She was able to hand the information to the police and get justice for her child.
Hayes’ family say they now have to deal with the shame and humiliation of what their family member did.
“To hear this is heartbreaking and scary,” the suspect’s older brother, who asked not the be named, told WREG.
He claims the video resurfaced two years after the alleged rape of the child due to a family feud. They are also truly apologetic to the victim and the family.
The brother said: “Us as a family, we apologize. I know that the child may not remember, but it’s something a mother is going to have to hold on to forever. Like, knowing that your child was exposed to something like that. You trusted your child with someone, and you have to deal with seeing this on your own.”
Ice and Hayes are being held in the Shelby County Jail. Hayes has been indicted on a charges of aggravated rape of a child. Meanwhile Ice also has been indicted of being criminally responsible for the conduct of another person in the aggravated rape of a child.
