During Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, he let the world know in no uncertain terms that he was not here for Blacks, Mexicans, Muslims, Native Americans, women, immigrants, gays, the poor, or the handicapped among others. He spoke the language that got his targeted demographic to the polls and went on to win the electoral college vote–and the presidency. Could this strategy possible work for anybody else?

Who Is Kimberley Paige Barnette, Anyway???
Well, Kimberley Paige Barnette is running for mayor in Charlotte, N.C., and she tried it by promoting herself on Facebook as “REPUBLICAN & SMART, WHITE, TRADITIONAL.” The 52-year old divorcee has since deleted that blurb from her profile, but she’s not apologizing for her position.
“I’m not prejudice, I do not judge other people,” Barnette told QNotes, a publication which supports the LGBT community. “Other people judge me. What’s the difference? I say I’m White. Others describe themselves as example transgenders. Are they labeling themselves? I’m also a divorced mother of two adult children. I accept others as who they are. I have traditional conservative views when it comes to family and friendships.”
No GOP Support
Like Trump, Barnett isn’t exactly uniting the Republican party with her antics. She has been labeled a “fringe” candidate and they have distanced themselves from her.
“Any suggestion that a candidate is more or less qualified for political office based on their skin color alone, is offensive to North Carolina Republicans and we condemn it,” GOP Chairman Robin Hayes offered in a statement.

Barnette Could Still Win
But condemnation alone won’t keep Barnette from winning in spite of being in a very distant third place in the polls. Lightning could strike twice, warns a Black city council member.

“Traditional? Is that slang for RACIST?” Councilwoman LaWana Mayfield tweeted on Sept.4. “This is why WE ALL must Vote. Don’t assume someone like her won’t win.” #Trumpdid #AmericanotAmerikka”
Time will soon tell. Election day is Tuesday, Sept. 12. Let’s see if Barnette will get to help make America great again…
