Elementary School Students Told To Pick Cotton, Sing Slave Songs As Part Of Field Trip
ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA — Imagine sending your child on a field trip and later learn their school made them pick cotton and sing slave songs for Black History Month.

That’s what supposedly happened at Ebenezer Avenue Elementary, and one mother wasn’t having it.
Jessica Blanchard believes the school went too far with this assignment. She said her ancestors picked cotton and that’s the last thing she wants her 10-year-old son to do and “think it’s fun.”
