HOUSTON, TEXAS — This is utterly disgusting. What kind of pastor would do something like this to a loyal member of his church? The details are much worse.
According to Opposing Views, Barbara Day recently told KRIV her mother’s dying wish was to have her funeral at her home church, Fourth Missionary Baptist Church — underneath pastor Walter F. Houston.
Ridiculous. A woman was told that “Pastor” (quotations are mine) Walter F. Houston refused to conduct the funeral service for her mother because she hasn’t tithed enough in recent years. https://t.co/XnZmDtY23r

Barbara says her mother, the late Olivia Blair, had the longest desire to have her funeral conducted at the church. She had been a member and tither for 50 years, according to the source.
However, apparently, the church refused that request.
AND FOR THE STUPIDEST REASON
According to Barbara Day, Pastor Houston specifically refused to conduct the service for her mother. She says he told her that her mother hadn’t tithed enough in recent years — a time in which she fell ill.
She couldn’t believe what she was hearing. Barbara mentions as follows.
“It was like the last insult in the world, there was nothing else that I could do for my mommy but funeralize her in the church that she loved and worshiped all of her life, even as a little girl.”
According to Opposing Views, when KRIV attempted to interview Pastor Houston on camera, he declined.

However, he did tell the source that Blair’s membership in the church had lapsed approximately 10 years before she died.
BUT GET THIS
According to Tyrone Jacques — owner of PimpPreacher.com — he also tried to get Houston to change his mind.
Jacques says church records indicate that Houston buried Olivia Blair’s husband just 7 years prior to when she needed burial. The source states that Blair’s husband had a full church service with membership honors.
So, how did it “lapse 10 years”?…
Barbara mentions — in the last two years — her mother wasn’t well enough to make regular contributions to the church. The daughter comments as follows.
“For the last two years, my mother has been in either a nursing home or she’s been in a hospital. And the last few months, she was in a coma!”
According to Jacques, while Blair was sick, no representative from the church reached out to check on her well-being during the entire time.
Moreover, the source mentions he offered to pay for the funeral service to be conducted at Houston’s church, but the pastor still declined.
After 50 years of loyal church attendance, 93 year old Olivia Blair, was called home after months in a coma preceded by sickness. "Reverend" Walter F. Houston refused to send on to her reward because she didn't give enough money to the church. jerkface. https://t.co/540fOdZ5P5

Instead, Jacques says the pastor told him, “Membership has it’s privileges.”
Opposing Views reports the aftermath as follows.
“Day said that, after some searching, she eventually found a church to perform her mother’s funeral but she is still upset it was not done at her home church.”
