Queen O recently spoke out about a health scare that gave her a newfound respect for her body. One morning, the media tycoon noticed her neck was swollen while cooking breakfast.
“By the time I finished making breakfast, the swelling had increased,” the 64-year old revealed in an essay posted in the November issue of O, The Oprah Magazine.
“I immediately Googled ‘swollen lymph gland causes.’ None of the results was good.”
Panicked, Oprah made an appointment with a doctor. In the meantime, she tried to diagnose her symptoms and recall everything she had eaten.

Thankfully Oprah’s condition was not life threatening.
Her doctor found that her salivary glands were blocked and advised her to drink more water and suck on lemons.
Following her doctor’s prescription, the blockage cleared and our favorite talk show queen’s neck was back to normal in two days.
“I couldn’t believe it,” she wrote. “I’d worked myself up to a blood pressure reading of 150/80 thinking about how I was going to rearrange my life to deal with whatever this was.
“As they say, you don’t appreciate your health until you no longer have it. Before this scare, I’d taken my salivary glands for granted. Actually, I’m pretty sure I’d never thought of them at all.”
She ended her essay by suggesting people to “look no further than your own body to offer a prayer of thanksgiving” this Thanksgiving.
“I was grateful… our bodies are amazing. And too often we are not grateful for their perfect functioning,” Queen O wrote.
