NJ Teen Helps Man Who Was Locked In Car Trunk & Left Severely Beaten
A 17-year-old teenager performed an extremely courageous act after she helped rescue a man who was locked in a car trunk in her hometown of Irvington, New Jersey. Kayla Rose was walking her dog in her neighborhood in Irvington, New Jersey and passed by a car that immediately caught her attention. Along the street were parked cars and although they seemed parked as normal, Kayla heard a disturbing noise while walking. Inside Edition covered the story and interviewed the teen about the incident.
Kayla Rose told reporters, “I heard knocking and scratching on the trunk of the car, and I just backed up because I was scared. And then I heard it again. And then I said, ‘Hello.’ And he was like, ‘Hello, can anybody help me.” Following the proper steps and being cautious, Kayla Rose went to tell her mother and neighbors about the young man who was trapped inside the trunk of the car. Although her neighbors tried to break the lock with a crow bar, but were unsuccessful at opening the trunk. The victim, who appeared to be a young teenager close in age to Kayla Rose, was still breathing and responsive when police arrived on the scene.
Inside Edition reported that the victim told police he was approached by two armed men, kidnapped by the individuals, and taken to banks to forcibly withdraw money from local banks. After he was severely beaten, the victim was left in the trunk of the car until Kayla Rose found him the next morning. According to Ebony, there is one suspect who has been charged with carjacking, kidnapping, robbery, and weapon offenses after police found evidence related to the crime in the suspect’s home. Unfortunately, the second suspect allegedly responsible for the crime is still “on the run” and Union County Crime Stoppers are even offering up to $10,000 for any information that may lead to an arrest/indictment.
Although Inside Edition didn’t give any details about the victim, but they did mention that he could have possibly died due to the freezing temperatures in New Jersey that night. Thankfully Kayla Rose happened to be “at the right place, at the right time” when she discovered there was a man locked in the trunk of a car while walking her dog.
