The minister of music at this particular church is here to set the record straight about what happened. Here are the details.
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA — A few days ago, a video went viral showing a praise team dancing to Jay Z’s song, “The Story of OJ.”

From the audio clip, you could hear that the song was the unedited version, full of curse words and profanity. Several churchgoers were astounded by the video, and it went viral almost instantly.
According to Bernard, the church pastor gave a disclaimer before the praise team started their performance. He said this performance would be out-of-the-box and controversial for an intended reason. It would set him up for his message/sermon.
The Minister of Music says the full context of the video was not shared, only the part you saw. However, you can watch the video for yourself below.
The original video was posted by the church’s drummer, Ben Thompson. However, as mentioned in the Bernard’s video, he didn’t intentionally mean for it to go viral.

Yet, according to the drummer, he was let go after the video went viral.
After which, Thompson’s father — who’s also a pastor — fired back at Tree of Life’s pastor.
“I just think it’s important for people to get the full context of what the video was really about,” says Bernard.
“These ladies were not dancing to a Jay Z song to glorify God. They were part of a sermonic presentation that was intentionally designed for…the platform of the message that was preached. A disclaimer was given before they got up, so nobody was misled or not prepared for the fact that this was going to be a really controversial, out-the-box presentation.”
