HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA — Anybody who’s anybody remembers the 1996 hit, Space Jam. LeBron James is now bringing it back to life with help from the director responsible for Marvel’s highest grossing film yet.

According to ESPN, James is about to drive in the paint, accompanied by Warner Bros.’s all-time stars, Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck. However, making an epic entry is its director, Ryan Coogler — the man responsible for Marvel’s Black Panther…the colossal hit.

The source says James was “blown away” by Coogler’s work in the Marvel film. So James posed him as the perfect fit for his revamp of the cinematic slam fest.

If you didn’t know, the former Cavalier has his own entertainment company — SpringHill Entertainment — which is spearheading the movie. James actually made his first mention of the production via Twitter with a photo from the pending locker room setup.

Already, the film is hyping up. Spectators believe the Golden State Warriors will be the Monstars.

NOT saying that’ll be the case — but if it were — that’d make for one heck of a movie, right? This writer would gladly pay his $20 to see it in 3D.

According to ESPN, LeBron had a personal involvement in recruiting Ryan Coogler as the film’s director-in-chief. However, this isn’t some spare-of-the-moment venture for James.

The source notes that it’s actually been something in the works from the last five years or so — along with partner Maverick Carter — “waiting for the right situation to come along,” mentions ESPN’s Brian Windhurst.

Yet, to be clear, this isn’t a sequel.

While LeBron loved Michael Jordan’s vision of Space Jam, that’s not what he’s going for this time around. But… there could possibly be a cameo from Jordan as well. According to the source, talks are in motion.

All in all though, the film’s production is set to start in 2019’s off-season.

James’s company actually signed a deal with Warner Entertainment in 2015 regarding the movie. For LeBron, this film is so much more than Space Jam. According to the source, he mentions as follows.

“The ‘Space Jam’ collaboration is so much more than just me and the Looney Tunes getting together and doing this movie. It’s so much bigger. I’d just love for kids to understand how empowered they can feel and how empowered they can be if they don’t just give up on their dreams. And I think Ryan did that for a lot of people.”
