PLAYBOY MANSION, LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA — For years, people joked about Hugh Hefner’s age, all while making false claims of his death. Now, all jokes are done. Hefner has actually passed away.
According to ABC News, Playboy founder Hugh Hefner died on Wednesday, September 27. The source reports that Playboy Enterprises, Inc. made the announcement.

Playboy Enterprises, Inc. also gave the following statement regarding his death.
“Hugh M. Hefner … peacefully passed away today from natural causes at his home, The Playboy Mansion, surrounded by loved ones.”
According to the source, Hugh Hefner introduced the world to Playboy in 1953.

And while Hugh is gone, his corporation will live on. In fact, he’s survived by his wife Crystal and four children. ABC News notes them as follows:
“Christie, who served as CEO of Playboy Enterprise for more than 20 years; David, Marston and Cooper, the latter of whom currently serves as Chief Creative Officer at the company.”
Cooper mentions that Hugh lived an “exceptional and impactful” life as a cultural pioneer.

Likewise, he states that Hefner was a leading voice throughout some of the most significant social and cultural movements “advocating free speech, civil rights and sexual freedom.”

Cooper continued as follows.
“He defined a lifestyle and ethos that lie at the heart of the Playboy brand, one of the most recognizable and enduring in history. He will be greatly missed by many, including his wife Crystal, my sister Christie and my brothers David and Marston and all of us at Playboy Enterprises.”
It’s no secret that Hugh Hefner helped usher in adult entertainment in a way people had never before witnessed.
