Tiffany Haddish’s career is definitely on the rise. Since the release of Girls Trip last year, Haddish has been in the spotlight. While most people would probably consider the spotlight to be the ultimate dream come true for the talented comedian, the limelight does have its drawbacks. Over the past month, Haddish has definitely experienced the drawbacks as fans and critics have been watching her every move. Now, she’s making headlines for her epic blunders while announcing this year’s Oscar nominees.
Butcherin’ Names Left and Right:
Although Haddish had the help of the teleprompter, announcing the Oscar nominees didn’t exactly go according to plan. The famed actress/comedian faced a few roadblocks trying to pronounce the names of the nominees. In a nutshell, the choppy pronunciations were almost cringe-worthy to watch. To many fans, the comedian seemed to have missed rehearsals to prepare for the segment. But nevertheless, she did what she does best: offer pure comedy. The segment was definitely funny, to say the least.

Of course, Tiffany Haddish has received quite a few reactions to the Oscar nominees segment. While many Twitter users wasted no time criticizing the comedian, some fans actually defended her. Although Haddish butchered several names, many fans argued that she spiced things up a bit. “You’d think if you were announcing the Oscar nominations to a worldwide audience, you’d bother to learn how to pronounce the names of some of the favorites. Apparently not if you’re Tiffany Haddish who thought it hilarious that she couldn’t say a lot of them,” one Twitter user said. But then there were others who felt the segment was similar to comical bloopers. “I could watch Tiffany Haddish mispronounce names all morning,” said Joe Berkowitz, in Haddish’s defense.
