Donald Trump, Kim Kardashian Discuss Prison Reform

WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA — Is this a nightmare? Donald Trump tweets this photo of Kim Kardashian and says they discussed prison reform.

On May 30, Trump took to Twitter to let everyone know that he had the most famous Kardashian by his side and in his office.

This information has the nation rattled, pretty much questioning what could Kim Kardashian ever contribute regarding prison reform.

Likewise, Kim tweeted about their meeting as well.

“I would like to thank President Trump for his time this afternoon. It is our hope that the President will grant clemency to Ms. Alice Marie Johnson who is serving a life sentence for a first-time, non-violent drug offense.”

Well, according to Can Do Clemency (CDC), Alice is a first-time offender who received an incredibly excessive sentence for attempted cocaine possession and money laundering.

The 1996 incident happened in Memphis, Tennessee, and she was sentenced to “life” for her first offense. So far, she has served 21 years of her sentence. The source says she’s exhibited exemplary, “role model” conduct, even though she would never get out.

According to the source, her supporters requested clemency when President Obama; however, the source notes that he denied the request.

CDC happened to catch a quote from Johnson, as follows.

“Before I came to prison I didn’t understand the plight of so many hurting women. Until I came and sat among them, I knew nothing of this kind of hopelessness. I prayed and asked God to show me my purpose in this. He stirred up the gifts He had already given me to help others.”

“As a young girl, it was discovered that I had the gift of writing,” Johnson continues. “So I began to write plays and thousands of women throughout the years have been a part of dramas I have written. The talents that they had were put to use.

“Artists, singers, dancers, prop makers, actresses and so many other areas of theatrical production were utilized. It has been absolutely amazing to see what happens in a person’s life when they discover that they can be productive and are validated as having worth.”

If you’re interested in writing Alice, her prison address is:

Alice Johnson #14873076
FCI Aliceville
P.O. Box 4000
Aliceville, AL 35442.

But, as far as Kim Kardashian’s involvement, people aren’t feeling it at all.

“Please explain to the choir what you know about jails or the system,” Twitter user Michelle Matthews tweets in response. “Don’t you live in the lovely hills of Cali. You ain’t never been to the hood. Thanks but no thanks, we not buying it.”

In this situation, you have to appreciate — no matter how much you might despise the Kardashians — she’s using her platform (regardless how she obtained it) to help free Alice.

According to Kim, when she heard about Alice’s story, it tugged at her heart; and ever since, she’s been on a mission to help her and her family receive the justice they deserve.
