Eleidy Breton, 27, once worked as a paraprofessional at the Bronx Latin School since March 2012. While working at the school, she encountered a 12 year-old autistic student. Breton was supposed to be an adult that children could trust. However, she violated that trust when she took advantage of a helpless child.
Here’s What We Know:
Eleidy Breton was a paraprofessional at the Bronx Latin School. According to the school website, The Bronx Latin School, is a college-preparatory school with 595 students in grades six through 12 that offers “a rigorous program of arts and sciences and encourage serious scholarship, independent thought, and clarity of expression. The Bronx Latin School sounds like a pretty good school. While Breton was employee there, she worked with a 12 year-old autistic child. According to the NY Daily Times, Breton allegedly sexually abused and raped the 12 year-old student. Brenton and the student allegedly engaged in sexual acts on various places and on numerous occasions, including sexual intercourse and oral sexual conduct with the victim when he was just 12 years old.
The abuse allegedly began in April of 2015 and continued all the way up until August of 2016. The child reportedly went to his parents with the abuse and they in turn told the police. Brenton was terminated in 2016 as well.
Abused For Over 1 Year
When Breton learned that the child had gone to the authorities, she allegedly instructed him to delete evidence from his phone, including call logs and text messages, according to a statement from the Bronx district attorney’s office. Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark said the following;
“Allegations of abuse against a helpless, innocent child are even more horrific and disturbing when the crimes are committed by someone who is meant to protect the child, Darcel D. Clark, the Bronx district attorney, said in the statement. We will work hard to secure justice for the victim, who allegedly was preyed on for more than a year.”
Currently, Brenton is out on bond but she faces charges of predatory sexual assault, rape, endangering the welfare of a child and tampering with physical evidence among other charges. She is due back in court on September 25th and if convicted, she faces 10 years in prison.
