UNITED STATES — Forbes just released its list for the highest paid women in the music industry. It used to be Taylor Swift, but that’s no longer the case.
According to the source, between June 2016 and June 2017, Beyoncé raked up $105 million — simply, and uncontestedly, surpassing reigning champ Taylor Swift.
The source notes that Swift only accumulated $44 million. However, that actually has her in 3rd place.
Forbes lists Adele as second to Beyoncé with $69 million.
Let’s give Queen Bey a round of applause!
The source reports that Adele knew Beyoncé was about to have an incredible year. Forbes reported as follows.
“Shortly after Adele took home the Grammy award for Album of the Year in February, she broke it in half — with the intention of physically sharing it with Beyoncé, in recognition of Lemonade.”
According to the source, Bey’s Lemonade album gave her pockets LIFE! This includes her HBO special and the “Formation” tour.
“Lemonade was a hit with both critics and fans, giving Beyoncé her sixth solo No. 1,” Forbes notes. “The ensuing ‘Formation World Tour,’ much of it falling into our list’s scoring period, grossed a quarter of a billion dollars.”

Now…while Beyoncé is making waves, don’t underestimate Taylor. She’s definitely a musical force.
Complex says, last fiscal year between June 2015 and June 2016, Swift made a whopping $170 million.
So, rightfully, she held the No.1 spot.
YET, WITH THAT IN MIND
How did Forbes even determine its list? Well, according to the source, there’s definitely a process. The source mentions as follows.
“In order to form our list, we looked at pretax income from June 1, 2016 through June 1, 2017, and did not take out fees charged by agents, managers and lawyers. We gathered data from Nielsen SoundScan, Pollstar, the RIAA and interviews with industry insiders.”
So given that Beyoncé released her album exclusively via TIDAL, a lot of that money stayed in-house.
