SARASOTA, FLORIDA — Regardless of whether you have money or not, racists will still treat you the same as everyone else they hate. A millionaire found this out during his recent vacation.
According to New York Post, a Black millionaire visited an ritzy Florida hotel, along with his consultant son. Instead of spending July 4 in Manhattan, this father and son decided to push a little time at Art Ovation Hotel.
Yet, it seems they only traveled down South to fall victim to a hate crime in their hotel suite.
WHEN RACISM COMES CREEPING
The New York Post reports a racist sneaked into Frank and Michael Davis’ room in the Sarasota hotel and left a 2×5 post-it note, which read: “You’re a N****R.”
This happened while the father and son were enjoying breakfast in another part of the hotel. After returning to their sixth-floor room, the Davis family found the disgusting message placed on a bedside lamp.
Michael Davis, 27, mentioned he was frozen for about 40 seconds or so after reading the horrible note — as he told New York Post.
“My first thought was, ‘What did we do to deserve this?’ We tipped well, we were beyond nice to all the staff.”
NOTE: But that’s just it. No one does anything to deserve racist treatment.
After realizing the situation, the source says the two feared for their lives and called police, as well as the front desk.
Accordingly, Sarasota Police Department responded; however, no suspects have been named.

PISS POOR SERVICE
Yet, hotel management was reportedly much less responsive regarding the issue. Actually, the hotel was a little unaccommodating after the fact.
The New York Post states that — although the hotel did refund their reward points — they refused to move them to a different room, given no one knew whether it was an employee or guest who slipped in the room. So, the family ended up leaving Art Ovation and getting another room two hours away.
Frank’s son, Michael, mentions the experience has been “very awful” and “saddening.”
“Despite our best efforts to be friendly, welcoming guests, someone chose to hate us simply for the color of our skin.”
The source reports that Marriott — the parent company of Art Ovation — finally called the family to apologize. Reportedly, a hotel spokesperson says the vice president called. Likewise, the representative also mentioned the Sarasota site would be undergoing “sensitivity training” as well.
Sounds a lot like Starbucks, right?
“The matter is being actively investigated and appropriate actions will be taken,” the representative stated.
According to the source, 58-year-old Frank Davis has made lifelong efforts to promote diversity.
Interestingly, Frank donated $5 million to his alma mater — Bucknell University — for a new building as well as for minority recruitment for the institution.
“It is critical that we all be champions for diversity and inclusion every day,” Frank notes.
