- PORT HURON, MICHIGAN — Talk about a happy retirement! This woman no longer has to count pennies and think about savings at all. Big congratulations.
We all get lucky urges, right? That impulse while standing in line via your local convenience store.
The thought: “What if I can win something today?” Chances are you’ve felt it while approaching the register, even if you didn’t intend on buying a scratch off or lottery ticket that day.
Well, for this woman, her urge and intuition paid her beautifully via Michigan Lottery’s Super Bonus Cashword game.
According to Michigan Lottery Connect, it took two days for this St. Clair County woman to realize the amount of her real prize.
HERE’S HOW IT HAPPENED
The source mentions the lucky player chose to remain anonymous — for the best.
She bought her winning ticket at Speedway gas station at 2611 Ravenswood Road. Reportedly, the woman told the source as follows.
“When I scratched the ticket off, I thought I had won $500. I went back to the Speedway to get paid and they told me they weren’t able to cash it. I took the ticket back home and found two more words, which would have been $5,000.”
“The next day after I got home from work, I decided to go over the ticket one more time,” the woman excitedly mentioned. “That’s when I found the word ‘raid.’ I thought: ‘This can’t be real!’ So, I called the Lottery and when the woman on the phone confirmed I’d won $1 million, I started shaking so much I dropped the phone.”
CLAIM THAT PRIZE!
The source reports the 60-year-old woman wasted no time in visiting lottery headquarters on Wednesday. Objective of the day was to claim her prize.
Moreover, she chose to receive her winnings as a one-time lump sum payment — approximately $634,000 — instead of going the annuity route.
With her newfound wealth, the woman plans to pay off debts, travel, and save the remainder. In closing, she had a statement for the public.
“Winning is amazing. Instead of watching my pennies, now I’m counting my dollars.”
Pretty much, all that was missing in the background was an audio of Wu-Tang Clan’s “C.R.E.A.M.”
“Cash rules everything around me, C.R.E.A.M. Get the money, dollar dollar bill, y’all.”
Nonetheless, the source adds — since Super Bonus Cashword launched in March 2017 — players have won more than $39 million.
Each ticket costs $20 and offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $20 up to $1 million. Accordingly, more than $53 million in prizes remain in circulation, including two $1 million top prizes, 47 $5,000 prizes, and 469 $1,000 prizes.
All in all, what are your thoughts about the anonymous woman’s big win? Could you imagine thinking you only won $500, just to be informed you’ve become an instant millionaire?
The woman is now among several other Michigan lottery winners, simply from the last week alone. According to the source, the state lottery commission paid out over $41 million in winnings on last week.
And apparently, one of those belonged to this lucky lady. Congratulations!
