This couple allowed their infant to be “ate on by a rat,” as the mother so eloquently put it. And, authorities are cutting the two no slack.
MAGNOLIA, ARKANSAS — If you don’t watch any other video today, you have to view THIS one. One, you have to hear this woman tell you what happened to her child. Two, you have let your mind work through what you’ll hear.
Trust, it’s worth your time…
According to Arkansas Online, 19-year-old Erica Michelle Shryock is being charged with:
- permitting abuse of a minor, Class B felony
- and endangering the welfare of a minor in the first degree, Class D felony.
“My daughter got ate on by a rat, and it was accidental; and she got [taken] from me,” says Shryock, whose accomplice was 18-year-old Charles Elliott.
Both are being held on a $15,000 bail, along with the same charges, according to Arkansas Online.
75 to 100 times…
According to Fox-10 Phoenix, that’s how many times this two-week old infant had been bitten.
The child was taken to Magnolia Regional Medical Center where examiners determined this was an incident that took “several hours”!
And, according to neighbors, that’s how long they heard the child screaming.
After searching for evidence, investigators found “blood in the infant’s crib, bloody rat prints, and rodent droppings on a nearby table,” notes the source.
Fox-10 states as follows.
“Shryock told investigators she woke up that morning around 7:30 a.m. after falling asleep just two hours earlier. She heard the infant screaming and told investigators she thought the child needed to be fed. Instead, she said she found the child covered in blood. She told deputies the couple knew rodents were a problem, but did not do anything about it.”
The infant’s bassinet was on the frickin’ floor. Of course, the rats “ate on” her daughter’s face. Smh.
Doctors say the two-week-old will have to undergo facial reconstructive surgery.
…Luckily, the child survived the encounter.
And get this…
The couple said they were afraid to take the child to the hospital because they were afraid she’d be taken from them.
Uh…d**n right she’d be taken. She should’ve been “Taken” by Liam Neeson.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. Not everyone deserves children, and everybody can’t be parents.
Unfortunately for the infant, this couple falls in both categories.
